The Maitri Path to Wellness Center in LaSalle is expanding. The company purchased a building in Peru to build a new not-for-profit resource center to help people kick alcohol and drug addictions. Licensed Clinical Therapist Kelly Jones says she wanted to start the new center after her experience working in the LaSalle County Jail. She says there is no place within 65 miles of the county for people who are dealing with drug addiction and need a place to stay.
The building that will house 12 men and 12 women at a time. Jones says people in LaSalle and surrounding counties can get help. Licensed Clinical Therapists help people get back on their feet.
The company is holding a fundraiser on Friday, March 17th at 6pm at the Auditorium Ballroom in LaSalle. She says it’s called dueling pianos. It’s where two professional pianists entertain the crowd with music and humor. The new resource center is scheduled to be open this summer.
