The bow-and-arrow murder retrial is rescheduled. Twenty-nine year old Bradley French would have had that retrial next week, but now it’s scheduled for the week of July 10. His lawyer is asking to throw out his confession.

Prosecutor Jeremiah Adams needs more time to line up witnesses who’ll testify about the circumstances in which French spoke to police about Joshua Scaman’s death in 2015. Scaman got shot with a razor-tipped arrow in the Illinois Valley Community College parking lot. French claims he shot Scaman in self-defense.

French had gone to prison for the murder, but an appellate court ruling reset the case and told the lower court to allow more of a self-defense claim than was allowed before. Prosecutors contended that French went out looking for trouble and found it. Testimony at the trial was that Scaman had harassed a woman French knew.
