The Streator Fire Department says fire fighters had to deal with clutter in the house fire on N. Shabbona St. Sunday night. The department’s statement about it says the fire fighters fought through “hoarding conditions”. They also had to tear apart some of the building to make sure the flames were out.
A passerby smelled smoke and called the fire department Sunday night. Residents of a nearby apartment building called 911 to report the flames soon after.
What caused the fire is still under investigation. The home has severe fire damage to its outside and porch areas.
