Chester Weger’s lawyers believe a judge should throw out the murder case against him because he was framed. The Chicago Sun-Times reports a new petition asks LaSalle County Judge Michael C. Jansz to consider that the DNA on a hair at the murder scene came from an unidentified man. Among other things, it also asks the judge to consider interviews with people who said now-dead mobsters told them they killed three women in Starved Rock State Park in 1960.

Weger is 83 years old and served 59 years in prison in connection with the Starved Rock murders. He confessed but recanted and has insisted he’s innocent ever since. Weger has a court hearing scheduled for this Friday.
