A Bartlett woman whose husband is accused of a bank robbery in Ottawa almost five years ago has a two-year prison sentence to serve. Jessica Sweeney Williams pleaded guilty last year to transferring a gun to a felon—her husband James D. Williams—by letting him use a pistol at a shooting range in May 2018.

James Williams and his alleged partner in three bank robberies, Alexis Handelman, are accused of stealing more than $9,000 from Old Second Bank that month. They allegedly took more than $5,000 from a bank in Gurnee and more than $134,000 from a bank in Aurora also that month. James Williams is scheduled for trial next month. Handelman is facing charges with no trial scheduled yet.

A federal judge sentenced Jessica Sweeney Williams earlier this month and gave her until July 10 to report to prison. Charges that she bought guns and bullets for her husband in the weeks before the robberies were dropped.
