Oglesby fire station could get exhaust venting system to protect personnel

Oglesby’s city council members want to outfit the city’s fire station with an exhaust venting system. It will connect to fire trucks and ambulances in the garage and send the fumes out of the building. Otherwise, while the vehicles are running even for the minute or two it takes for personnel to get on them and leave on a call, the fumes build up inside. The fumes seep through walls and can slowly cause long-term health problems for the personnel stationed there around the clock. The city council put on file a $101,630 bid from Hastings Air Energy Control this week.
