Streator man accused of attacking police officer pleads not guilty

LaSalle County Judge Cynthia Raccugila allowed a Streator man’s personal guardian to stand next to him during his arraignment hearing Thursday. 31-year old Jacob Thompson pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault of a police officer. He allegedly continued to walk toward the officer with a knife which caused him to get shot in Central Park last month. He’s scheduled to be back in court May 11th. His trial date is set for May 22nd. Thompson also posted bond last month to get out of jail.
