Jason Bunting of Emington, northeast of Pontiac, will serve in the Illinois House 106th district. He’s filling what was Tom Bennett’s term until Bennett left the House for an Illinois Senate opening last month.
Republican Party chairs in the seven counties the 106th reaches into chose Bennett to fill the vacancy over the weekend. They and six more party chairs were involved in choosing Bennett for the vacant Senate seat last month. The 106th House district covers part of southern LaSalle County.
Bunting is a Livingston County Board member, a director for the Illinois Corn Growers Association, and a former president of the Livingston County Farm Bureau.
