Carus LLC hires third party consultant to investigate fire

A third-party consultant is investigating the fire at the Carus Chemical Plant in LaSalle. Carus VP of Operations Alan Gibbs says the consultant is doing a thorough investigation of the fire the company expects early results in the coming week. The State Fire Marshal’s Office said the cause of the fire is undetermined but there is no evidence of suspicious activity. CEO Andy Johnston says he is incredibly proud of employees who have taken additional responsibilities like answering phone calls on the community hotline. As of Monday, Carus says the hotline has helped 240 residents. The hotline is still available at 815-224-6662.
