Sports schedules scrambled with Interstate Eight Conference losing two members

Two schools are leaving the Interstate Eight sports conference. Plano and Sandwich will join the Kishwaukee River Conference to put their teams up against teams from schools of similar student body size. That leaves six schools in the I-8, and it’s a deeper problem than those numbers not matching.

Ottawa High School Supt. Mike Cushing says the schools are leaving at the end of this school year, even though they’re supposed to give a two-year notice. Sports schedules are worked out up to two years in advance.

The remaining schools in the I-8 are Ottawa, Morris, LaSalle-Peru, Kaneland, Sycamore, and Rochelle. Cushing doubts any other schools will join soon enough to fill in the gaps.
