Ottawa High School Hall of Fame: David Manigold

Dr. David Manigold is one person being inducted into the Ottawa High School Hall of Fame on January 28th. After graduating in 1969, Manigold went on to get his degree in biology at Northern Illinois University, and a graduate degree at the University of Illinois. After completing a residency in Internal Medicine at Blodgett and St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI he returned to Ottawa to work at Ottawa Medical Center in 1981, serving multiple terms as the president of staff. He also volunteered at the Health Center of Eastern LaSalle Count and OTHS football games for twenty years as a physician. Manigold has been a driving force in redeveloping the Dayton Bluffs Preserve by restoring the pioneer cemetery and developing the hiking trails while also achieving the certification as University of Illinois Master Naturalist. He has also served as the chairman of the Ottawa Police and Fire Commission and president of the Ottawa Concert Association.
