An amendment to the Redevelopment Agreement between the city of LaSalle and CL Enterprises should speed up the completion of the Maytag Building. The amendment provides an incentive so the company can finish building six apartments on the second floor in 180 days. Alderman Tom Ptak says it raises the Tax Increment Financing District from one to three million dollars. When asked what changed, Ptak says the city and the company want the project to get done.
But he also says it could take longer to finish the restaurant and brewery that will be like Tangled Roots in Ottawa because it’s under a different organization. The city is working with CL to create a redevelopment agreement for the Kaskaskia Hotel as well. But Ptak says that project is going to take a lot longer to complete. Once completed, it’s supposed to have fifty apartments, a rooftop bar, three event spaces, and retail space.
