The LaSalle County Board this week will consider a resolution opposing gun control measures going through the General Assembly lately. Opponents spoke this afternoon to the Committee on Appointments, Legislation, and Rules.

Member Beth Findley Smith says most lawful gun owners will have a hassle to comply with the bills if they become law. She says semi-automatic firearms are used countless times every year to save lives and deter crime.

Member Ray Gatza says his constituents are telling him to make LaSalle County a sanctuary county for gun owners.

The full board meets Thursday at 1pm.
