St. Sen. Sue Rezin says the spending bill that gives lawmakers raises also gives the governor $400 million to spend as he wishes with little oversight. The Morris Republican calls the bill appallingly irresponsible. She says far too many Illinois residents are struggling to keep up with the staggering cost of living for lawmakers to give themselves raises and for the governor to spend money on pet projects. The bill sets Illinois legislator pay at $85,000, a $12,000 increase.
