Two women plead guilty in Ruiz Construction burglary in September

A Chicago and Michigan City, IN woman have pleaded guilty to their involvement in a burglary at Ruiz Construction in September last year. 23-year old Julia Lopez was sentenced Friday to four years of probation and has to spend 20 days in the LaSalle County Jail. 47-year old Shavonne Turner also pleaded guilty Friday. She’s was also sentenced to four years probation and has to spend 14 days in the county jail. LaSalle County Sheriffs were called to a burglary in progress after a person living in an apartment above the business heard noises below him. Police later chased van found outside of the businesses before it crashed on E. Etna Rd. Three people tried to escape on foot but were caught. The other person involved, 47-year old Randolph D. Jeffries, has been charged with burglary and armed violence in his alleged role in the incident. He’s scheduled to be back in court on January 20th.
