Wages could be increased for nurses at LaSalle County Nursing Home

Registered Nurses and License Practical Nurses could be making more at the LaSalle County Nursing Home. The LaSalle County Board’s Salary and Labor committee approved recommending wage increases from $26 to $31 an hour for RNs and $23 to $28 for LPNs last Wednesday. Nursing Home Director Carrie Becker wanted to increase the wages for all the employees working at the home by five dollars, but the committee voted against it. She says changes were made to the home’s budget to allow for the wage increase for all. The home is also ready to get its census up to 61 people.

The committee wants to wait until the home gets 61 people before they will recommend increasing wages for other employees. But Becker says with what the committee is recommending, it could cause some issues because some employees could be making more than the home’s managment over a certain amount of time. Last year CNAs were the only employees who got a pay increase.
