Republican Party chairs from 13 counties will meet in Pontiac Saturday to interview applicants asking to replace Jason Barickman in the Illinois Senate. The applicants have until today to get their resumes and cover letters to Tazewell County Republican Party Chairman Jim Rule, who’s chairing the replacement search group.
The district that would have been Barickman’s includes part of southern LaSalle County. He ran unopposed but announced a month after the election that he’s leaving to stop missing events with his family. Whoever’s chosen to replace Barickman can have the seat for two years. It’ll be up for election in 2024.
