The amount of people being served at both Illinois Valley PADS locations is on track to exceed last year’s numbers. Executive Director Carol Alcorn says last year the shelter served a record 371 men, women, children, and veterans. Since the new year for the organization started in August, they have already served 260 people. Alcorn says that the number could be up to 400 people by May 2023. She thanks the volunteers for all the work they do.

She says there are several other reasons why more people need help.

But the organization is supposed to expand. She also says Tuesday, the organization is supposed to be closing the deal on the land they purchased from the city of Ottawa for $100 to build a new shelter.
