Deer hunting figures up for this year’s firearm season compared to last year

The state’s two-part firearm deer hunting season figures are up from last year. Statewide, almost 77,000 deer were shot this year, compared to more than 70,000 last year. Local figures show increases in Bureau, Grundy, LaSalle, and Putnam counties. LaSalle County deer hunters took 654 animals during the firearm season this year, up from 563 last year.
