The Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois Department of Commerce, Best Inc., and the Dislocated Workers Program are hosting layoff assistance workshops for former Owens-Illinois employees. It was announced back in November that 161 workers from the glass factory in Streator will be laid off. The workshop will be at Bruce Township Hall on Thursday, December 15th at 7:30am, 1pm, and 3:30pm and also on Friday, December 16th at 8am, 9:45am, and 11:15am. The information available at the workshop includes job search assistance, filing for unemployment, and other job openings. A complete list of jobs available will be provided to the public after the workshops.
