Oglesby mayor Rivara has a few big goals before leaving office next year

Dominic Rivara was an Oglesby city commissioner for two terms starting in 2011. He became mayor in 2019. With less than five months to go until the next election, Rivara says he won’t be on the ballot.

A big project he’d like to finish before he leaves office is getting Illinois Valley Community College to switch to city utilities and have part of its campus annexed into Oglesby. Rivara says he’d also like to get the second electric transmission line to Oglesby going. And he’d like to get $300,000 in utility tax money that went to Ameren instead of the city.
