For the first time ever, the LaSalle County Veteran’s Assistance Commission is having a Veterans Giving Tree. VAC Supt. Christa Hammers says the tree has gift tags for requests from all ninety veterans living at the LaSalle veterans’ home. People can come and take a tag off of the tree and purchase the gift or gifts for the veterans. She says the VAC wanted to do something special for the home because the last few years have been tough with COVID-19 outbreaks. The tree is located at the VAC office in Peru. If you purchase something, make sure you bring it back unwrapped by December 12th.
She says about sixty tags have been taken from the tree so far out of the ninety tags that were first put on the tree.
