Streator City Engineer Jeremy Palm expects the city to save around $10,500 per year on energy with an investment in new lights at the wastewater treatment plant. The City Council last night approved participating in a ComEd rebate program for it. It will bring the cost to put LED lights at the sewer plant down from $50,000 to $21,000. Palm says the energy savings would cover the remaining cost in two years.
