Thursday is the Great American Smokeout. The LaSalle County Health Department is promoting the American Cancer Society’s annual day to encourage smokers to quit for a day. Health Educator Leslie Dougherty says the idea is to get people to want to quit for longer.
There’s a tobacco quit line at 1-866-QUIT-YES or 1-866-784-8937. Dougherty says that’s the number to call to ask about free nicotine patches. She says there are many ways to quit smoking, and whichever works for you is the right one.
