Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign has begun

The Salvation Army Ottawa chapter would like to collect $96,000 in the red kettles it puts out every Christmas season. Lt. Wayne Strayer says that will support the mission of helping people out of poverty. There are 60 families in the local Pathway of Hope program. The pandemic put a crimp in fundraising while magnifying the need for help.

Anyone who’d like to volunteer at a kettle can contact the Salvation Army online or by telephone. Putting money in the kettle helps people out of poverty, but so can ringing the bell. It’s volunteer experience and many employers consider it when screening job applicants.
