Illinois House member Tony McCombie says she has enough support to become the next Illinois House GOP leader. The party will vote on the position Tuesday.
Representative Ryan Spain of the 73rd District, which will cover much of Bureau County starting with the next legislative term in January, is one of McCombie’s supporters. So is Bradley Fritts of the 74th District, which covers the northwestern part of LaSalle County.
A statement bearing the names of 23 legislators and legislators-elect says McCombie will lead with relentless dedication for improving Illinois and offer steadfast support for each caucus member. It says the state needs a new generation of leadership and McCombie will elevate the caucus and bring forward the changes needed. McCombie has been in the legislature since 2017.
