More than half of LaSalle County’s registered voters cast ballots in the mid-term election. The turnout was 55.9% and is comparable to the figures from most years going back to 1974. They ranged from 46.8% in 2006 to 65.0% in 1990.
Illinois chooses the governor and other statewide office holders during the mid-term elections, and those big races tend to draw more voters. Presidential elections draw even more. LaSalle County’s highest voter turnout on record was 83% in 1992.
