County budget and levy on file for FY2023

It’ll cost an estimated $119 million to run LaSalle County government next year. County Board Finance Committee Chairman Brian Dose says just $37.2 million will go through the general fund, which covers day-to-day costs. The rest is in funds the county can’t be very flexible with.

The board put that budget on file this week along with a nearly $31.7 million property tax levy for next year. That’s up from $30.6 million this year.

Dose says the county is getting out of the financial trouble it was in a few years ago. Pandemic relief funds helped a lot.
