Lighted Way Association will get $1 million to support remodeling the nursing home building it bought to turn into a school for special needs students. That money’s coming from LaSalle County’s $21 million in federal pandemic relief funds.
The County Board last week approved that and other awards including $500,000 for the Ottawa Community Food Basket for a new building and $400,000 to help the Ottawa YMCA’s scholarship program. The Y will use the money to cover membership costs for low income people.
A project to run water to restrooms at Lake Mendota got approved for $150,000 after board members rejected a $200,000 request for it earlier last month. Several other projects were awarded $10,000.
