Peru’s leaf vacuum program started yesterday. Fire Chief Jeff King says it’s on a Monday through Friday schedule repeating each week with a different neighborhood scheduled each day. He says it’s a safer alternative to burning, which won’t be allowed in Peru next year.
King says get the leaves out to the curb and don’t park in front of them. And make sure they don’t get into the street and clog storm drains. Feel free to remove leaves from storm drain grates. If you can’t, call City Hall to report the problem.
