Update: LaSalle County Sheriffs says the suspect was 55-year old Jeffery L. Plique. Sheriff’s say that house that Plique drove to was his. He’ll have a bond hearing Monday.

The standoff between a suspect and numerus police departments in Sheridan came to a peaceful end. LaSalle County Sheriffs were called to the Sheridan Food Mart just before eight Saturday morning after multiple shots were fired. A man in the store was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. The armed suspect allegedly drove away on a tractor before driving to a house on Church Street and barricading himself inside. The suspect’s father was also in the barricaded house but he eventually got out. After about ten hours, according to the police scanner a SWAT Team shot tear gas into the house which got the suspect to throw out a long rifle and a pistol out of different windows. The suspect was eventually taken into custody about a half an hour later. He is in the custody of the LaSalle County Jail but there have been no formal charges announced.
