Update: Standoff in Sheridan after suspect shoots man at Sheridan Food Mart

UPDATE: During the 6pm hour Saturday, the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department announced that the suspect has surrendered and the shelter-in-place order is lifted.

LaSalle County Sheriff’s told Sheridan residents to shelter in place Saturday morning after a shooting at the Sheridan Food Mart. Sources say multiple gunshots were fired by one suspect. A man was hit in the leg but the injury was not life threatening. He was taken to the hospital. The armed suspect left the scene on a small John Deere tractor and then entered a home. The father of the suspect was apparently inside the home at first but had since been let go. Sheriff’s have set up a perimeter and which now includes heavy armored vehicles. A standoff has been going on for the last 8 hours. We’ll have more information when it becomes available.
