Last night at Kingman Gym, Ottawa lost at home to LP in Varsity Volleyball.. Alyssa Malmassari led the Lady Pirates with 9 kills, Ryleigh Stevenson and Mel Pries each had 7 kills in the loss. Head coach Mark Haberkorn got his 1000th win with the Lady Cavaliers victory and is only the fifth volleyball coach in state history to win 1000 games.

Streator rallied to win at home over Reed-Custer. Top performers for the Lady Bulldogs were Bella Dean, Ellie Isermann, Rilee Talty, Sophia Pence; Alexa Jacobs and Emma Rambo.
Newark were winners on the road at Somonauk.Lauren Ulrich had seven kills, two aces, Kiara Wesseh earned five kills, and Bre Dixon finished with four kills for the Lady Norseman. Josie Rader had three kills in the loss.
Seneca won at Henry in two matches. Leading the Lady Irish was Faith Baker with eight kills.
Streator defeated their host LP 2-1 in the Class 2A boys soccer Regional. Adam Williamson and Brady Grabowski each scored for the Bulldogs in the victory. Giovanni Garcia had the lone goal for the Cavaliers. Streator will face Orion on Friday for the regional championship at the LP Sports Complex.
Both Shepherd teams defeated Sandwich in girls junior high basketball. The 7th Grade team won 15-11. Leela Gromm had 6 points, Kennedy Kane added 4 more. The 8th Graders won 34-5. Leading the way for the Lady Rams were Meredith Waldron with 11 points and Ashlynn Ganiere finished with 10 points.
Postseason in the MLB
The Yankees are meeting the Astros in the American League Championship Series. New York eliminated the Guardians with a 5-1 win in Game Five of the ALDS. The Yankees now face the team that beat them in their last two ALCS appearances in Houston.
Elsewhere, the Phillies blanked the Padres 2-0 in Game One of the NLCS. Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber both went deep to help Philadelphia take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Opening night for the NBA season, The Celtics were winners over the Philadelphia 76ers in Boston. Defending champions Golden State Warriors started the season with a win at home over Los Angeles Lakers.
The Chicago Bulls tip-off the season with a game against the Miami Heat at FTX Arena. The Bulls are looking to head back to the postseason for the second consecutive season.
The NFL and Amazon are announcing a newly scheduled “Black Friday” game the day after Thanksgiving. The first NFL Black Friday game will be on November 23rd of next year. The NFL said “Thanksgiving is synonymous with football” and it’s excited to give fans another day of NFL action during the holiday weekend. The teams featured in the Black Friday game will be announced with the release of the 2023 schedule.
