It was a busy night in Volleyball

Ottawa defeated Plano at Kingman Gym. Leading the way for the Lady Pirates was Olivia Evola with 6 kills. Other top performers for Ottawa, Mel Pries, Alyssa Malmassari, Skylar Dorsey and Cheyanne Joachum.

 

Serena were winners over Hinckley-Big Rock. Paige Sexton finished with 13 kills, Makayla McNally and Paisley Twait each had 3 kills, Kendall Whiteaker and RayElle Brennan both added 2 kills for the Lady Huskers.

 

LP won at home over Sycamore. Camryn Piscia and Jayden Dyke each had five kills, while Olivia Shetterly and Emma Garretson each finished with four kills for the Lady Cavaliers.

 

Streator lost at home to Manteno in two sets. Top performers for the Lady Bulldogs were Annabelle Dean and Sophia Pence  

 

Newark won at home over IMSA. Kiara Wesseh finished with 14 kills and 13 digs, Lauren Ulrich added 12 kills, 12 assists in the Lady Norseman victory.

 

The LP / Ottawa Co-Op swim team lost to their host Sterling. Winners for the LPO team, Clara Guglielmetti in singles. For the relay teams, Guglielmetti, Kailey Goetsch, Mikenna DeSpain and Evvie Jeppson were all winners.

 

Ottawa lost 6-2 at Streator in soccer. For the Bulldogs, Landon Muntz led the way with 2 goals. Brady Grabowski, Noah Russow  Brian Huichapa and Moe Bacon each added a goal. Evan Snook and Ethan Cela each recorded a goal for the Pirates.

 

At the Class 1A Serena Regional in Soccer. The host Huskers defeated Sandwich 8-0. Tanner Faivre led the team with four goals, Richie Armour added two goals, Eduardo Moncada and Beau Raikes each had a score.

 

In Girls Junior High Basketball.

Both Shepherd teams competed against Peotone. The 7th Graders  lost 17-9. Chloe Thrush led the way with 4 points. The 8th Grade team defeated Peotone 34-22  and won the Ron Moir Memorial Classic. Ashlynn Ganiere finished with 12 points and Alaina Schulz added 10 points for the Lady Rams.

 

Marquette won 36-22 at home over Wallace. Anna Hjerepe led the 8th grade Lady Knights with 16 points.

 

In the Major League Baseball postseason yesterday.

The Phillies were the lone road team to win their opening division series game.  Philadelphia held off the defending champion Braves 7-6 in Atlanta to take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five in the NLDS.  The Dodgers beat the Padres 5-3 in the other NLDS opener in Los Angeles. 

 

In the American League, The Astros defeated the Mariners 8-7 in Houston.  The Yankees also jumped out to a 1-0 series lead on the Guardians with a 4-1 win in New York.  The action continues Wednesday with Game Two for both NL Division Series’.

 

The Bulls led most of the game during a 127-104 preseason win over the Milwaukee Bucks at the United Center. The Bulls open the regular season next Wednesday against the Miami Heat.

 

The Blackhawks tonight begin the season with a game against the Stanley Cup champions Colorado Avalanche at the Ball Arena.
