MTCO service restored hours after fiber cut

By WCMY News Oct 11, 2022 | 6:19 AM

Damage to an underground cable caused outages of up to nine hours for MTCO internet, telephone, and TV customers yesterday. The company says it replaced 200 feet of fiber-optic line. Service was restored late last evening.

Most of the locally affected customers are in Marseilles. MTCO users in other cities from here to the Peoria area also had no service.

This is the first major outage affecting MTCO since a cable was cut in the Chicago area in March. The company says it’s been working on a redundant connection, and that takes up to a year.
