A film retracing the battle over commercial logging at Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois will be shown at Illinois Valley Community College. It starts at seven pm at the Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Center on Friday, October 14th. “Shawnee Showdown: Keep the Forest Standing” talks about environmental victories but also underscores the uncertain future of the forest because of commercial logging. The college says because of climate change, activists are asking tough questions about logging. There will also be a Q&A session after the film is shown.
