Marseilles Clean-up Days begin today. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says it’s to encourage residents to clean up things in their yard.

He says there will be dumpsters donated by Republic Services at the city garage on Commercial Street on the city’s west side.

But the city says this isn’t an event to bring yard waste like brush or tree limbs. Resident’s also can’t bring things like garbage, paint, tires, electronics, or hazardous chemicals that can pose or create a public health hazard. The event runs from eight am to six today and Friday. On Saturday city workers will be collecting items from eight to noon. The city also says anyone who brings an item like an appliance must have the doors removed before delivering. Only two utility trailers per person are allowed.
