The U.S. Economic Development Administration is giving Illinois Valley Community College a $3.5 million grant. That will cover most of the cost of a new agriculture classroom. The college will spend $1.1 million of its own money on it.

This is for phase two of the agriculture studies expansion. The college has already put up a machine maintenance building. It’ll take the next three months to finish designs on the classroom and lab building. Construction could take a year-and-a-half. IVCC President Jerry Corcoran expects the building to be ready for students in 2024.
