Marseilles Mayor Jim Hollenbeck seeking reelection

Marseilles Mayor Jim Hollenbeck is running for reelection. In a press release Monday he says for the last five years he’s had one goal which to always stay focused on the city’s future. As mayor he says he accomplished many things including getting several grants for rehabilitating homes, sanitary sewer upgrades, and redoing Union and East Bluff Streets. He also says while as mayor the city has overseen necessary repairs like the Commercial and Broadway Street realignment project and the water and sewer extension project going out to Interstate 80. He also says during his first year he provided zero percent interests loans for fifteen businesses because of the pandemic and was also able to create a boat launch. He also highlights that the city’s number of abandoned properties has fallen from over 100 down to 20. This will be Hollenbeck’s second time running for the office. He was appointed mayor in 2018 after Jim Trager passed away while in office.
