Utica updates ordinances for nanobrewery taproom

Smaller than a micro-brewery would be the nano-brewery. That’s what Dan Stash is starting at 166 Mill St. in Utica. The village board last week updated the community’s ordinances to allow a taproom. Stash will brew a small amount of beer and sell it from a garage.

Trustee Jim Shrader says it’s a good use for an otherwise unusable space. Board members voted five to one for the changes. The objection came from Debbie Krizel who feels the village is making too much space available for alcohol-related businesses.
