The city of LaSalle qualifies for a low-interest loan for sewer plant improvement. It also qualifies for partial loan forgiveness. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is awarding a loan of $2.4 million for the work. The city has to pay back a little less than $1.7 million plus interest. The city will upgrade an anaerobic digester and add a 62,500-gallon chlorine tank to its south wastewater treatment plant.
