West Nile Virus has been found in LaSalle County for the first time this year. A batch of mosquitoes collected in Grand Ridge Wednesday tested positive for it. There could be a lag of a month or two before the virus is confirmed in people.
It doesn’t make most people sick, but some get fever, a headache, nausea, and other symptoms. A few get severe complications that are deadly.
The county health department says take precautions to prevent mosquito bites.
