By WCMY News Aug 31, 2022 | 11:18 AM

Parking fines are going up in Peru. The city council approved raising regular parking tickets from ten to twenty dollars. Drivers will also pay more when it snows three or more inches because of the city’s snow ordinance. If a car is still parked on a public street, they will now have to pay fifty dollars compared to the original twenty is cost. The fine increase takes affect Thursday. Deputy Police Chief Sarah Raymond says rates haven’t been increased since 2006. Mayor Ken Kolowski says the city isn’t looking to make more money, they just want people to obey the rules.
