Results in Varsity Volleyball

Ottawa were winners at home over Streator in Kingman Gym. Top performers for the Lady Pirates were Ryleigh Stevenson, Olivia Evola  and Mel Pries.

 

Marquette defeated Henry in 2 sets. Leading Lady Cru were  Eva McCallum with 9 kills, 4 digs and an ace. Kaylee Killelea had 7 kills and added 16 assists. Lilly Craig and Avery Durdan each finished with 6 kills and 2 blocks.

 

Seneca won at home over Midland in two sets. Sophie Cato had nine kills, Neely Hougas earned 15 assists.

 

Serena took a road win over Hall in two matches. Abby Johnson had three kills, Sophie Thompson finished with 17 assists and Paige Sexton had 13 kills, four aces in the victory.

 

Results in Soccer

Ottawa outscored Princeton 5-1. Ethan Cela scored two goals. Evan Snook, Connor Diederich and Adam Gross each scored for the Pirates.

 

Streator shutout Plano 5-0. Top performers for the Bulldogs, Brady Grabowski finished with three goals and Noah Camp made eight saves in the shutout.

 

Serena won big at home over Aurora Central Catholic 5- 0. For the Huskers, Tanner Faivre blasted two goals and Braxton Hart, Richie Armour and Hudson Stafford each had one goal scored. Carson Baker had his first career shutout with nine saves.

 

Ottawa swept Princeton at home 5-0 in tennis. The team of Rylee O’Fallon, Jenna Smithmeyer, the duo of Isabel Heimsoth, Emma Walker and partners MaKenzie Eichelkraut and Mika Moreland won in doubles. Emma Cushing and Layne Krug were winners in singles.

 

JV girls also defeated Princeton. Gabby Cooper and Zulee Moreland won in singles. The team of Rylee Harsted and Delaney Coffey won in doubles.

 

Results in Varsity Golf

Ottawa defeated Kaneland and LP at Hughes Creek Golf Course. The Pirates’ Drake Kaufman led all golfers. Other top performers for Ottawa were Jacob Armstrong, Seth and Jonathan Cooper.

 

Streator had a home loss to Manteno at the Eastwood Golf Course. Kylen Krasnican led the Bulldogs in the loss.

 

The Ottawa girls golf team defeated Princeton and Fieldcrest in a triangular event. Marlie Orlandi, Hannah Duggan, Payton Nodland and Sam Rivera led the way for the Lady Pirates.

 

Yesterday on WCMY, The White Sox failed to close out the Baltimore Orioles in a 4-3 loss at Camden Yards.  The Southsiders led by one with two outs in the bottom of the ninth before Adam Engel dropped a foul pop-up from Kyle Stowers that would have ended the game.  

 

The South-Siders remain four games behind Cleveland for first place in the AL Central at 63-and-62.  Johnny Cueto starts for the White Sox against Arizona tonight.

 

The Cubs fell to the Cardinals 8-3 at Wrigley Field. Ian Happ had three hits and a pair of RBI in the losing effort as the Cubs fall to 54-and-71.  Justin Steele starts for the North-Siders against the Brewers tonight

 

The Chicago Bears wrap up the preseason against the Browns at First Energy Stadium tomorrow.  The Bears are 2-and-0 in exhibition play after beating the Seahawks 27-11 last Thursday.

 

In College Football tomorrow, The Northwestern Wildcats kick off the season against Nebraska in Dublin, Ireland. The Fighting Illini plays its first game against Wyoming at Memorial Stadium.

 

The Chicago Sky will host the Connecticut Sun in Game One of the WNBA Semi-Finals at Wintrust Arena on Sunday night.   

 

The Chicago Fire will try to avoid their third consecutive loss tomorrow when they host Montreal at Soldier Field.

 

NASCAR is set to race Saturday at the Daytona Motor Speedway in the Coke Sugar 400.
