Oglesby approves placing quote on file for fixing water well pump

By WCMY News Aug 17, 2022 | 11:46 AM

The city of Oglesby approved placing a $14,710 quote on file from the Great Lakes Water Resource group for fixing a water well pump. Commissioner Jason Curran says the quote is not the exact amount it will cost to fix the pump because it has to be pulled out of the ground, repaired, and then put back in. The city isn’t sure what the problem with the pump is and they won’t know until it’s pulled out of the ground.

Curran says the pump itself could be the problem. But it could also just be a hole that needs to be fixed. The well is located west of the old iron plant on 3rd St. Curran says the project will start on August 29th. Oglesby has some of the deepest water wells in the nation. The one where the pump is being fixed goes down 2,850 ft. The pump is 590 ft down.

Correction: The council placed the quote on file, they haven’t approved it yet.
