Ottawa City Hall could work on plans for the riverfront amphitheater over the next year. Mayor Dan Aussem says there won’t be permanent seats and the only building will be for the stage and dressing rooms. That will keep flood damage to a minimum.

The state announced a $3 million grant for the project Monday. The city will add $1 million. The amphitheater will be built on the former Central School property on the north side of the Illinois River.

Ottawa Mayor Dan Aussem provided this design (by Poligon) for an amphitheater in Evanston that may influence the Ottawa design.
