The Sox trail Cleveland by two games in the AL Central race with a 60-and-56 record.

The Cubs gave up a go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth in their 5-4 loss to the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. Brandon Hughes surrendered a solo home run to Nelson Cruz to seal the North-Siders’s fate. Hughes was charged with his first loss out of the bullpen. Ian Happ clobbered two home runs as the Cubs fall to 47-and-67 and will send Justin Steele to the mound against the Nationals tonight
The St. Louis Cardinals open up a home series against the Colorado Rockies tonight. The Cardinals are looking to add onto their NL Central lead. The Cards are two games ahead of Milwaukee in the division with a 63-and-51 record. Jose Quintana will takes the mound for the Red Birds
The College Football Playoff management committee revealed the location of a couple future national championship games. The 2026 CFP national championship game will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida and Atlanta is expected to be named the host city for 2025. This year’s national title game will be held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, followed by NRG Stadium in Houston for the 2024 national championship

The Ottawa boys team won the Belvidere North Ryder Cup Invitational at the Timber Pointe Golf Course. For the Pirates, the team of Drake Kaufman & Jonathan Cooper finished first, partners Seth Cooper & Jacob Armstrong placed 2nd and the twosome of Chandler Creedon & Alex Billings claimed third place.
The Ottawa JV team placed 3rd at the JV Sycamore invitational. Top golfers for the Pirates were Colin Fowler, Colt Bryson, Adam Swanson and Wyatt Stone.
The Streator boys squad competed at the Peoria Notre Dame Invite at the Kellogg Golf Course. Top golfers for the Bulldogs were Cole Park, Jaydon Nambo. Kylen Krasnican and Nolan Ketcham.
The Seneca girls team won on the road over Plano at Cedardell golf course. Julia Hogan led the Lady Irish with a score of 53 with Addison Stiegler finishing with a 59in the victory.
In Junior High Softball, Shepherd shutout Bureau Valley 10-0. Pitcher Addie Russell went five innings, giving up only three hits and striking out 13. Lily Brewer came in the sixth and gave up zero hits and struck out three in two innings of work.
