Now’s the time for hunters to start preparing for hunting season. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police says tree stands should be checked over to make sure they’re safe. Capt. John Williamson says you can let the deer have time to bed before you go looking for them on hunts.
Williamson says now’s also a good time to take hunter safety courses. Squirrel season has started, dove season begins on September 1st, and archery deer season starts on October 1st.
