Streator has announced their next police chief. City Manager David Plyman says it’s John Franklin. Plyman says Franklin is well-rounded in law enforcement which made him the right candidate for the job. He worked for the Chicago Police Department for 28 years and left as a commander. He also has police chief experience working as the chief in Dolton, IL and Jacksonville, Arkansas, which is outside of Little Rock. He first day is September 1st. Streator Police Chief Robert Turner retired after one year on the job. Plyman says Deputy Chief Robert Wood is running the department right now.
