Creating a maker’s lab is next step for Streator Incubator building

The Streator Incubator building will be getting a maker’s lab thanks to a $948,000 federal grant from the U.S Economic Development Administration the city received last month. City Manager David Plyman says the lab has equipment used by entrepreneurs and local businesses to make production materials. He says this is a big deal.

He also says the lab could be used to collaborate with Illinois Valley Community College.

The grant from the federal government will also create fifty jobs and estimated to generate about 1 million dollars in investments. It will also be used to fix the HVAC system, make structural improvements, parking lot improvements, and technology updates.
